Lunchtime times at Abbey Mead are staggered so to ensure pupils get appropriate time to eat and play.  Across the lunch hour, children spend 30 minutes inside and a further 30 minutes outside.  Whilst dining, children are encouraged to partake in discussion so to build their conversational language and strength their social skills.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have their lunch between 11:45 and 12:45

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have their lunches between 12:15 and 1:15.

Members of the Senior Leadership Team are on duty daily in the dining hall to further promote social skills and discussion.  Across the lunch hour, children are in the care of lunchtime supervisors.

We encourage play and collaboration during the lunch hour. When the weather permits, the children use the school playing field and a wide variety of equipment.

Children have the choice of choosing a hot meal for dinner or can bring a packed lunch from home.

If you wish, your child may bring a packed lunch to school. The packed lunch should be in a lunch-box labelled with your child’s name. We ask that glass containers, fizzy drinks, sweets and chocolate are not brought to school. We also have children at school with nut allergies, therefore we have a ‘nut-free’  policy. Please check foods carefully.

Dinner money can be paid online via MCAS.

School Dinners cost £2.00 per day and should be paid for before the meal. This can be paid for weekly at a cost of £10.00.
