As Principal, I would like to welcome you to our large inner-city primary academy. I hope that you will feel Abbey Mead Primary Academy is the school you wish to choose for your child. We wish our children to have special and happy memories of their time with us and value highly the positive relationships we have built between children, parents, staff, governors and our neighbouring community.

Children get one chance for an education and here at Abbey we want this to be the best. There is a driving determination to ensure that pupils and adults reach their full potential. Through the development of positive learning behaviours (6Rs), we strive for all of our children to leave with the skills necessary for successful lifelong learning. Learning is celebrated and openly admired and we strive to work and learn together with parents and carers.

At Abbey, we fully appreciate the value of outdoor learning and will be developing our grounds to provide a stimulating and enriching environment. Each class also benefits from regular trips off site to enhance and enrich the curriculum; these are heavily subsidised. A specialist Sports teacher further adds to the curriculum the children receive.

We have a lot to be proud about at Abbey. We have ample classrooms and specialist support bases to enhance learning. The school is a happy, stimulating and caring place and we expect high standards of behaviour and good manners throughout.

We are proud to be part of TMET (The Mead Educational Trust) and we benefit from working closely with other primary and secondary schools within the Trust. This growing partnership of academies brings access to a world-class education network and high quality professional development for our staff. We embrace the vision of TMET; ‘Together we make a positive difference’.

We would be pleased to show you around Abbey Mead Primary Academy for you to feel the friendly atmosphere here; give you the opportunity to meet the staff; and see the children as they work and play together.

Please phone (0116 266 1809) or leave us a message ([email protected]) for an appointment to visit.

If you have any safeguarding concerns about a child at Abbey Mead Primary Academy outside of school hours, please call the Social Care on 0116 4541004 or email [email protected].  This email will be sent to all safeguarding leads at the school.
